Over 70 stands will be at Rašínovo nábřeží during the 6th annual two-day festival “Beer at Náplavka”. It will be happening on 15th and 16th June between Palackého and railway bridge at Výtoň.

There has been a boom in the microbrewery industry in the last few years. There is 400 of them only in the Czech Republic. A number of them will introduce their special beers at a popular festival “Beer at Náplavka.” During the last year, over 10 000 visitors came to the festival. “The festival has a subtitle “festival of small and micro Czech breweries,”, so that means that all breweries will be Czech. There will be 50 microbreweries taking part in the 6th annual festival. Some will be here for the first time. There will be a festival beer “Vltavská čubička” (The Vltava Dog paddle), that has been created by the brewery Krušnohor from Kraslice – the winner of last year’s festival voted by the visitors of the festival,” said Jiří Sedláček, the director of the festival. There will also be a beer for women, called Aurosa. “It is a Czech lager in designer bottles that is made mainly for women, but not only for them. Interesting information about beer, hop plants and microbreweries can be found in the “Československá pivovarsko-sladařská ročenka 2018” publication that you can buy at the entrance throughout the both days,” He added.

The festival will begin on Friday 15th June at 14:00. On Saturday, visitors can arrive as early as 10:00. Both days, the festival will be open until 22:00. “On Saturday, between 8:00 and 14:00, the Náplavka market will also be happening, adding tens of stands,” added Jiří Sedláček.

During the festival, the beer is only to be consumed from purchased beer glasses. The festival organizers are trying to reduce the amount of plastic waste and beer tastes better from glass. “Beer at Náplavka is a degustation festival, therefore there will only be 0,3l glasses available. The entrance is free, the only requirement to be able to attend is to buy the degustation set, which is made up of the festival beer glass, that has the volume of 0,3l, the festival handbook, and a festival pencil. The set will cost 100 Kč, seniors will be able to buy it for 70 Kč and it will be usable for both of the days of the festival,” explained Jiří Sedláček.

There will also be 20 stands with food that goes well with beer. “The visitors will have a lot to to choose from. They will be able to eat pagáčky with olives and cheese, crackling sticks or sweet or salty almonds from small Spanish farms,” said Jiří Sedláček.

There will also be bigger meals, like for example grilled or lightly smoked duck breast, sandwich with grilled cheese, BBQ pulled pork and beef, chicken baked in buttermilk or burgers with pulled pork or with halloumi cheese. “For true connoisseurs, there will be patés with chocolates and sherry, cranberries, Port wine and thyme or Dutch cheese. You can also try fresh pizza right from the oven. There will also be Mediterranean cuisine. Lovers of Asian cuisine will also be satisfied, because there will be fresh spring rolls, dumplings, Ph soup and much more.”

A rich musical program is also a part of the festival. DJ Kid Dynamite, Cheers!, Plastic People of the Universe, Strašidelný Elektrik Band, Helemese, FurFru and Orchidea will be performing live.
