WINTER SATURDAY FARMER’S MARKETS open on Saturday, 21 January, in Jiřák (Jiřího z Poděbrad Square ) and continue there every winter Saturday, i.e. 28 January, 4 February, 11 February, 18 February and so on. On Tuesday, 21 February, the famous traditional Žižkov Carnival takes place in Jiřího z Poděbrad Square. Afterwards, THE FARMER’S MARKETS open on Wednesday as well; so starting Wednesday 22 February Jiřák Farmer’s Market will work as you are used to, i.e. on Wednesday and Saturday. The offer will naturally reflect the cold season. There will be dairy products: milk, yogurt, curd cheese, cheese and butter. Fresh meat from Czech farms: mature beef, pork, mutton, chicken and poultry from small-scale, free-range farming as well as eggs. Traditionally smoked meats and delicatessen from private butchers. Bakery products made from plain or whole-wheat flour, traditionally baked sourdough bread, rye bread, regional bakeries offering their specialties. Fresh vegetables will be on offer only in case of around-zero temperatures. There will always be pickled vegetables, jams, and preserves, home-made sauerkraut or dried apples, pears and cherries (dried without the use of sulphur), freshly ground flour, herbal syrups-in short everything winter time allows us to offer you. A detailed list of products available will be published on this website. We are looking forward to seeing you.
We will inform you about the opening of Náplavka and Kubán Farmer’s Markets as soon as we have more detailed information.
We hope that you enjoyed Christmas and New Year’s and that you are keeping your New Year’s resolutions or even exceeding their goals. We wish you all a happy and smooth start to 2012!
